TARENTUM AREA LIONS CLUB was sponsored by the New Kensington Club, received its Charter on April 20, 1939 from District Governor Clarence G. Gephart. 

The first President was Gordon C. Post and the first Secretary was Frank F. Althnay.  The first Treasurer was James Camp.

Members with many years of service to the District include Robert S. Porter, Jr., George Papas, Francis X. Jordan, William Beatty, J. Francis Heck, Jr., and J. Edward McCormick who served as District Governor for the year 1966-67. 

Beacon Lodge Camp for the Blind has been a long-time project for this Club.  The building known as Tarentum Hall was largely built through the efforts of the Tarentum Lions. 

The Tarentum Lions Club was chartered with 49 members. Our club sponsored the Cheswick-Springdale, West Deer, and Freeport Lions Clubs.
