Helen Keller’s Birthday

Each year the Pittsburgh Deaf Blind Celebrates Helen Keller’s Birthday.

On June 20, 2008 Lions Barbara Anthony (member and Interpreter), Irene Hearn (deaf), PDG Dennis McCarthy, and new Lion Peggy Thiel celebrated Helen Keller's Birthday at UPMC Southside Hospital where the club meets.

The cake was donated by the Foodland in Wilkinsburg and the ice cream was donated by UPMC South Side Hospital.

This year the club used Helen Keller’s birthday not only as a celebration but a recruitment tool to gain new members from South Side.
